types of warts on the skin

Certain types of human papillomavirus, which penetrate damaged areas of the skin, cause rapid cell growth in its overlying layers. As a result, warts are formed. There are various types of warts. They form anywhere on the skin and can vary greatly in size and color. Usually warts don't cause any major problems, they will go away on their own. Nevertheless, in some cases, it is worth consulting a doctor and getting rid of it.

Types of warts on the body are usually distinguished according to where they spread.

Types of warts

  • Vulgar (common)
  • plantar,
  • flat (young),
  • genital warts (genital warts)
  • filiform,
  • senile dementia (seborrheic keratoma).

common warts

Vulgar or common - this is the most common type of neoplasm. They are small nodules (up to 10 mm) with a rough surface. They protrude slightly above the surface of the skin and are completely painless. Common warts form on any part of the body, but most often they are on the neck, on the head, in the bends of the elbows or knees.

Another feature of common warts is the appearance next to the "main", large warts, which are smaller.

Plantar

This is one of the varieties of common warts, also called "Spitz". It is located on the skin of the feet, most often on the sides of the soles of the feet. It consists of several papillae, fused to each other, surrounded by a roller. Sometimes a Spitz looks like a solid thorn growing on the skin. Sometimes plantar warts can grow inside the skin. Then they look like a fossa surrounded by a roller with prominent papillae. Plantar warts often cause discomfort to a person as they cause discomfort and even pain when walking.

Their formation can be triggered by tight or uncomfortable shoes. In such shoes, the area of \u200b\u200bthe skin is damaged and becomes more susceptible to penetration and development of the human papillomavirus.

Flat

Flat warts are more common at an early age, in children and adolescents, and are therefore called ageless. These are small formations (usually about 3 mm in diameter). They can be round or irregular. The surface of juvenile warts is smooth and even. The color is usually the same as the skin color, sometimes flat warts can have a yellowish tinge. These types of warts can form on any part of the skin, but their "favorite" places are the face and hands.

Flat warts usually cause no physical discomfort and go away with time. However, when placed in a prominent place, they cause aesthetic discomfort, so patients often turn to doctors and beauticians for their removal.

Genital warts

The warts are localized in the genital area and infection occurs through sexual contact. The most common spread of genital warts is the groin, penis, labia, and anus. Also, warts of this type can form in the mouth.

Genital warts are small skin growths with sharp tips, tiny papillae. These papillae are fused to one another and often look like cauliflower. Genital warts are dark-flesh, pink in color.

Treatment of genital warts is carried out by a dermatologist with the participation of a gynecologist or urologist.

filiform

Filiform warts (acrochords) are more common in older people. They are elongated growths that resemble threads. The size of filamentous warts can reach 1 cm. The acrochord localization is the skin of the neck and face. Most often, they are formed on the eyelids, lips. There are stringy warts in the armpits.

Acrochords are often injured because of their elongated shape. On their own, in most cases, they do not go away, moreover, after removal, they often recur with the formation of new warts in the same place.

Senile

Seborrheic keratoma most often develops in old age due to skin changes. They are located anywhere on the body, but more often on the neck, on the arms, on the chest. These are small flat papules with well-defined borders. senile warts are more often yellow, pink or brown, up to 2 cm in size, can be single, and can form entire foci. Dead skin cells form the basis of the neoplasm. At first they are soft, but over time they become dense, covered with cracks.

senile warts require careful attention, as they tend to turn malignant.

So, there are different types of warts. Most of them are harmless, but it is better, without delay, to consult a doctor and be sure.
